​If you have me on Facebook, you know that the past two months have been filled with getting ready for the opening of The Little Mermaid at the Performing Art Center for ENMUR. Kendra and I have been writing on our blog From Page to Stage for 8 weeks now and to those who have followed that journey, thank you.

I wanted to write about something I have experienced with this amazing group on my personal blog. This weekend, we had cue to cue and for those who don’t know what that is, let me give you a little background. It’s the one day that all the technical glitches and set movements get worked out scene by scene. It’s a super long day and a ton of sitting and waiting, but it has to be done in order for things to run smoothly. Since this is such a big set, it took all day to get through only Act 1. I will talk more about that on Friday with the other blog, but what made this day great was how much dedication I saw in the cast as I walked around the building. My family was discussing it after the day was over and without any guidance, if the actors weren’t supposed to be on stage to figure out their next scene, they were working in small groups to get other scenes perfect. Rachel and Boyd were in the back working out a scene. Jenci and David were working on their songs. The under the sea creatures were working on their dances. Maryl was working on choreography with anyone who needed it. It was such an amazing day. And while I might be biased, my favorite part was watching Dallas direct the stage. He never raised his voice even though scenes were frustrating. He always guided the crew rather then demanded them to do something. He taught the actors how to crank lights and raise the curtain and not just how to be on stage. It was a learning experience for everyone and anyone who wanted to take in the whole theater experience. My heart was overflowing with so much pride and love for what is being created with this group that I don’t want it to be over in a couple weeks.

Being apart of something this great is a once in a lifetime experience and after this show closes, everyone will go their seperate ways and perform with other groups, but I know this show will be with this group for the rest of their lives and will be talked about for years to come.
