In the midst of trying to post blogs every day, today I felt inclined to share a personal one tonight. I recently read an article about how people don’t remember the kind things you’ve done if you’re ugly doing something else. In today’s society, if someone is succeeding, there’s always that one person trying to bring them down. Taylor Swift said it best with her lyrics, “People throw rocks at things that shine.” In between vague Facebook status updates and “private” comments made on a thread, hurtful words last much longer then kindness. Not to mention that once something is on the Internet, it’s out there. Why would you want to put something out that come back and bite you in the butt later on in life? It just doesn’t make sense. Mean people use their own insecurities to bring others down and when that happens, honey, hold your head high! Don’t be the victim, but be the bigger person and use the stones they throw at you to build something bigger and better.
One of my favorite quotes from Jen McKen on her photo blog is, “If you are ugly on the inside, I won’t take your photos to make you look pretty on the outside.” In the end, stories are told about the kind person who always wins in the end. So go out and be nice to your neighbor. Leave a compliment on a friends photo. Post an uplifiting quote on your social media accounts. And before you click post on your next status update, think about how your words will affect someone reading it.
P.S. To the special person reading this... YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!
